One new project presented in two parts. Part One was a very tedious film to make. It included weeks of preparation and numerous steps before the print made it to the optical printer. Once there the final portion of the project took ten and a half hours (straight) of printing. The results were satisfying and there is room left for improvement. Nevertheless it is an interesting film that is worth your while to watch.
Secondly, the bi-products of this project or rather the building material for Part One act as a short piece on its own. However the original negative was captured then edited digitally.
Both pieces feature choreographer, dancer and illustrator, Anthony Ellis-Henry. Without him the project wouldn't have happened.

Two days after the birthday of the site and over two months since the last update, terrible.
Anyways. I've had a lot on the go this past fall and winter - now it's ready to go online. It appears as though all content must exist on the Internet nowadays but I wouldn't exactly call ryanalexandermedia.com an interactive website...
From time to time I produce small experiments and for the most part I am pleased with the results - this is where they end up.
First is a hand processed roll of 8mm, uncut. Secondly, an optical printer test print from a larger project that I will be posting in a week or so. I also have several videos on the go. Stay tuned.

Trailer for the documentary "Beneath the Falls" directed by Chris De Rosa is now posted.
Niagara Falls has been called the honeymoon capital of the Canada but many people are unaware that Niagara Falls is also the suicide capital of the Canada, with an average of 15 suicides each year. Wes Hill Jr. devoted his entire life to the Niagara River, he has been called the "Niagara River Man" and said to have had an "encyclopedic knowledge" of the river. Wes recovered an estimated 500 bodies from the river during his lifetime. The story follows Dave Hill, Wes's youngest son, as he tells the story of his father's legacy.

The last few weeks have been crazy with preparing for the Waterloo Arts Festival (promo video coming soon) but it’s now time for twelve new medium format photos. I’ve also got some rolls of 8mm to shoot so an update in the film & video section is on its way. Click here for medium format page. I still can't figure out pre-loaders in Flash so the pictures take a second or two extra to load.
